🔑 KEY CHANGES IN SQF EDITION 10
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
✅ Food Safety Culture — Now Fully Formalised
Edition 9 introduced culture. Edition 10 takes it further — you need a DOCUMENTED culture plan with measurable objectives, leadership involvement, and continuous improvement evidence. A poster on the wall is NOT enough.
✅ Formal Change Management Clause — NEW
Any change to equipment, personnel, processes or procedures must now go through a structured, documented change management process. This is a brand new requirement many sites will need to build from scratch.
✅ Digital Tools & Technology Integration
Edition 10 is the first SQF edition designed as a fully digital experience. Digital HACCP records, electronic monitoring logs, and AI-assisted compliance tools are now formally recognised.
✅ Environmental Monitoring Programme — Strengthened
Greater emphasis on pathogen environmental monitoring — especially Listeria and Salmonella — with clearer requirements for corrective actions when positives are detected.
✅ GFSI Benchmarking 2024 Alignment
Food Fraud prevention (VACCP), Food Defence (TACCP), allergen controls, and supply chain management all tightened.
✅ CAPA — Updated
New guidelines for root cause analysis, documentation, follow-up verification, and closure — making corrective actions more rigorous and auditable.
✅ Training & Competency — Enhanced
Documented training plans with competency verification now explicitly required — not just attendance records.
